Post-Rainbow & Beyond

I am Violet
A sibling of purple,
lurking deep in the
moody side of the spectrum.
The colour of sigh,
and of longing!
Fools crowd my lair,
but angels fear to tread

Indigo— I is the Ego—
The unrestrained self,
emerging from purple
to meet my neighbour Blue
The Genie & soul of denim,
the tattoo of restless youth

B is for Blue,
the avant garde optimist!
But when I get the blues,
watch me streak out
like a seagull—
far above the ocean,
into the endless blue

Green— Envy’s face-pack.
But verdant, fertile, and rich!
In Spring mere eco-friendliness
turns to merry madness
for leaves, grasshoppers
and emeralds!

Yellow roses
for the one I love—
Not everyone agrees;
For it takes lots of gumption
to like this brazen hue.
I’m the turning point
when in autumn—leaves turn
to deep, deep orange

Orange
the amber traffic colour
that says—get ready to go!
Come autumn, the artist,
to colour the mellow leaves.
I’d rather peel an orange
than a smelly onion!

Viva la Revolution!
RED! The colour of passion,
of rage and of the stop sign.
Read my lips! for,
if lips maybe red,
so is blood
when it is shed

Nothing comes after—
BLACK, the unique,
and the infinite.
All else is submerged
in the Indivisible.
