I came upon a house so high
It hurt my neck to see it all, sigh
Its magnificence was there to behold
Its glory was overt though it was old
But I just shook my head
And then I walked on.
I came upon a car so wide
A family of ten would easily ride
It dominated the roads and the bridges
It crossed easily even the steepest ridges
But I just shook my head
And then I walked on.
I saw a ring a woman was flaunting
Showing it off and mercilessly taunting
Decorated with diamonds, it shone bright
In the afternoon sun, with all its might
But I just shook my head
And then I walked on.
I entered a mall, so huge and great
Where everything was branded, not second rate
Whatever youd need, youd get from there
In full price or bargain, fair and square
But I just shook my head
And then I walked on.
I met a teacher standing tall
Instructing us to be brave and never fall
To join the rat race is to waste your life
Wealth is a luxury not worth the strife
What you are within matters the most
The feelings and values that you host
It was then I knew my mind was made
From now on, Id probably never be afraid
That I didnt care a tuppence for anything material
That what Im deep down is way more real
So I didnt shake my head
And I never walked on…
