Aishah: The Mother of the Believers

She is Aishah
Born in Makkah
Nine years before Hijrah
Daughter of Abd-Allah
Sister of Abd-al-Rahman
Their mother is Umm-Ruman
Active and playful
Understanding and cheerful
She married the Messenger
For some gold as mahr
Source of pleasure
And comfort for her partner
As a Prophets wife
She grew up wise
As well as intelligent
And diligent
Of the Quran and Sunnah
Medicine and Fiqh
History and poetry
Shes an authority
One of the mothers
Of the believers
Shes a teacher
And an educator
After the Prophet died
And of his wealth nothing remained
As they are a charity
For those in poverty
A Prophet leaves no inheritor
So she lived on dates and water
And became a teacher
Of every scholar
Many years passed
Since the Prophet departed
At her sixty-sixth year
Her end is near
Illness visited her
During the fifty-eighth year
Of the Hijrah
Thus was the end of Aishah
