Toward the East
Hath the Lord plucked the Star?
Soft eyes from the planet fretted below
Melancholy’s breeze wafted o’er the lamp
Pale cloth and the Book rustled for speech
Hath the Lord forgiven the Child?
Mother wept blood, kneeling at the altar
The Garden of Gethsemane could be Earth
Soul of Man, the Heavenly Rock to Hellish Dust
Hath the Lord borne the Word?
Trustworthy being chosen as the prophet
The waters of Babylon singing to Jerusalem
Upon the Seven Heavens – sleepy portion
Hath the Lord cursed the Devil?
Fire in the bosom, locus in the fountain
The babe in her arms whining for belief
Dwelling in those wondrous passages
Toward the Centre of the Earth
The Lord hasn’t plucked the Star
(He is most Compassionate)
The Lord has indeed forgiven the Child
(He is most Merciful)
The Lord has indeed borne the Word
(He is the King of kings)
The Lord has indeed cursed the Devil
(His is the Creation)
