Bisons position themselves ready to gore if other wild animals try to molest its calf. A smudged mother draws back her child away from the cooking heat. A bird feeds its fledgling. And other such same old stories….
Flying rapidly and throwing itself o要 to the hands of a man, naturally this unusual incident raised the fellowmen’s eyebrows. This parent bird seems to say, “Please spare my child and take me instead.” Seeing this, the fellowmen astonished, what kindness, what mercy!... Another incident, a small boy shut out of the door, just for having done some mistake, he knowing not where to go, aligned against the threshold weeping. Moments later, the door opens, the relented mother, with tears and joy, who drove out the child, picked the weeping o要e and began kissing the dusty face, and took him in.

That’s mother’s love, kindness – it’s in her nature. She cannot bear to see her child suffering. Whether her child is young or old, child is child. That’s “mother and child” relationship.

Even wild animals are kind to their young o要es.

Coming back to the bird throwing itself down o要 to the hands of a man who caught a fledgling, observing his Companions reaction, the Prophet said, “Do you wonder at this bird? You have taken its young. Yet I swear by Allah, your Lord is more merciful to you than is this bird to its fledgling.” And he asked the man, who caught the fledgling, to put it where he had taken it from.

Another tradition of his, “Allah has hundred mercies, and o要e of them has He sent down amongst jinn and men and cattle and beasts of prey. Thereby they are kind and merciful to o要e another, and thereby the wild creature inclines in tenderness to her offspring. And ninety-nine mercies has Allah reserved to Himself, that therewith He may show mercy to His slaves o要 the day of Resurrection.” - Muslim, 49, 4.

In a tradition said by the Prophet, and revealed by Allah, but is not a part of the Qur’an, – sacred tradition, hadith qudsi in Arabic: Allah when He had brought into being His creations, He wrote down in His Book, which lies with Him: “My Mercy shall prevail over My Anger.”
