Many years ago, a Prophet had a dream,
He saw it three times, did Prophet Ibrahim.
He dreamt he was sacrificing his beloved son,
A son born in his old age, and his only one!
The apple of his eye, surely was he,
But under a knife, how could that be?
He pondered and prayed, what should he do?
Was it a message from God, if only he knew!
So he turned to his son, and told him all,
About Gods command, and about Allahs call.
Prophet Ismail stood up, so brave was he,
And told his dad, to do what was meant to be.
"Youll find me willing to go under the knife;
If thats Gods will, Ill sacrifice my life."
"Oh dad dont fear, this is a test from your Rab,
To see if youll give up, that which you love.
So take this cloth and tie it a round your eyes,
Ill wear o-ne too, to not see the knife."
So Prophet Ibrahim got ready for the slaying,
Sharpened his knife, all the while praying,
That Allah would accept this noble deed,
And strengthen his faith in the Islamic creed.
As he drew the knife across, doing what was right,
He looked down and saw to his delight,
Instead of his son, in his place,
A ram was being slaughtered, by Allahs Grace!
Now during Hajj, the blessed pilgrimage,
We remember the action of this great sage.
We read takbirs and say "Labaik",
"God, were present, all the time, for your sake!"
