For an instant everything and everyone stops and for a fraction of that instant, before movement returns to "normal", everyone moves in slow motion. Your heart skips a beat and remembers what it has heard or seen somewhere in its existence in the far reaches of ones soul and we all automatically bow our heads.
It happens to all of us who are seeking the truth and so somehow because it is a unified spiritual acknowledgement we may devalue its true meaning. No one really seems to speak about this phenomenon -- this extraordinary event -- which happens so often. And so our conscious minds may miss the pause, the acknowledgement that is the reminder of our source -- our CREATOR. It is a reflection we dont understand initially until it happens over and over again and then we begin to see it as no coincidence -- this pause -- this absence of heartbeats. It is the reflection of souls mired in this world -- coming up for air -- in this breathless encounter: the soul remembering its CREATOR. It is a universal worship -- our beings respond involuntarily, humbled and in awe at the thought of our CREATOR.
Have you seen a Muslim woman dressed in hijab enter a public space and everything for an instant stands still? It is not the woman, this pause, it is our souls paying homage to recognition of obedience to ALLAHS command."O ye Children of Adam!
We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover your shame,
as well as to be an adornment to you.
But the raiment of righteousness -- that is the best.
Such are among the Signs of ALLAH, that they may receive admonition!"
HOLY QURAN 7:26
"And say to the Believing women
that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty;
that they should not display their beauty and ornaments
except what appear thereof;
that they should draw their veils over their bosoms
and not display their beauty except to their husbands,
their fathers, their husbands fathers, their sons, their husbands sons,
their brothers or their brothers sons, or their sisters sons,
or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess,
or male servants free of physical needs,
or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex;
and that they should not strike their feet
in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments.
And O ye Believers!
Turn ye all together towards ALLAH, that ye may attain Bliss."
HOLY QURAN 24:31
"O Prophet!
Tell Thy wives and daughters, And the Believing women,
that they should cast their outer garments over their persons:
that is most convenient, that they should be known and not molested.
And ALLAH is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
HOLY QURAN 33:59 Have you heard the adzan (call to prayer) first in the far reaches of your soul and then are paralyzed upon its sounds penetrating your ears and confused that the heart heard it first?
This call to "Salah" our second pillar of Islam, second only to our Declaration of Faith -- Shahada.
Have you read in ALLAHS Most Glorious QURAN that all of His creation worships Him? ". . .to Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth:
everything renders worship to Him."
HOLY QURAN 2:116
"Seest thou not that to ALLAH bow down in worship all things
that are in the heavens and on earth--the sun, the moon, the stars;
the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind?..."
HOLY QURAN 22:18
"And those who respect their trusts and covenants;
And those who guard (the sacredness) of their worship--
Such will be the honored ones in the Gardens (of Bliss)."
HOLY QURAN 70:32-35 How could the soul not give pause to the call to worship its CREATOR, or to one who is covered as commanded by ALLAH, Subhanwataala; or to the beauty of the first bird call just before Fajr -- the call that wakes all to worship ALLAH in the first prayer of worship for the day?
The Soul Remembers because ALLAH is the Only Reality.
