"All acts done by the sons of Adam are meant for him, except fasting. It is exclusively meant for Me, and I (alone) will reward him for it"
(Bukhari and Muslim)

It is that point in the time of year
The time Muslims beam with cheer
Ramadan is at last here

I live my destiny through a dream

Going from extreme to extreme

Following a forged glistering gleam

Searching for something in noble esteem

let love lead your soul
and love teach your mind
knowledge of the heart
that leads to the divine

let love be your teacher
and love be your guide
to a path that is straight
and a wisdom sublime

let love be your sage
let love be your walking cane
as you walk down this passageway
seeking a world without time

bring on the wine PDF Print E-mail

off in the distance
one can hear the hopeful song
of a night bird singing
to her love that is left and gone.
as for me, I say: "bring on the wine,
ive been sober far too long."

a dry thirst has ravaged my heart
all these many years
and my mind is wheeling from this world.
my windblown beard has become matted with dust and the invasive salt of tears.

finally, it is time to quench my desire.
hence I say, "bring on the wine!"
I long to be drunk once more
on the sweet juice of wild grapes
that once hung heavy on your garden vine.

Oh how the sun is so bright,And I look at you with all my might,If I could amount to who you are,People would gaze at me from places near and far,And how you make your children smile,Or how you could cross the River Nile,I look at you in amazement and stare,That's my mother up there!
