Travelleress...

Im a solitary travelleress
Following the sign
Travelling the dunya
In hope, one day paradise will be mine.

I try to live my life
By my guide that is Islaam
It tells me whats halal for me
I try to avoid, haraam.

It is not all that simple tho
When shaytaan is on my case
Hes telling me, all thats wrong
So that I might loose my faith.

Its all about control I guess
Of my actions, hopes, desires
So long as I, keep my nafs in check
and pray I, avoid the fire.

I raise my hands in dua
That one day Ill meet Allaah
And Hell grant me forgiveness
So I reach my one true goal, Janaah

InshaAllah

Misconceptions

Ya Allah...

Why is it they stare at me, while I walk down the street?
Why is this world always set out, to create some big defeat?
Is it the colour of my skin, my scarf or my long gown?
Or is it what I hold inside, my heart that puts them down?

How can my faith, of peace and truth, be misconstrued to be,
Something other than what’s in The Book, for all the world to see?
No bombs, no knives, no guns, no hate, no obscurity,
Just my own guide, to live my life, prepare for all eternity.

I don’t hate the passers by, for what they are to me,
For most of them are strangers, being who they want to be.
What gives any human, the right to display cruelty?
No matter what that persons race or religion be.

Let them not inside my heart, cause hate or anxiety,
Let them not hinder my place in this society.
Melt their stone cold hearts, so that some day they may unearth,
That compassion deep inside their souls, show them their true worth.

I can tolerate the consequence, of the minority that hate
I can take it all, for only You decide my fate.
May it only make me stronger; I know it’s for the best,
All I ask of You though, is to protect the rest.

InshaAllah

by Tavis J. Hampton

A dimly lit flame danced atop a candle in the evening breeze. It was all that separated those in the gathering from complete darkness on that moonless night. The Storyteller seemed to float above the fog-covered ground, taking a seat in front of his already captivated audience. Four young men, or perhaps they would be called boys in our world, settled themselves in anticipation of the fable that was about to be woven into their minds like a loom that slowly gives birth to a new exquisite rug.

"Where is Nestor?" the Storyteller unexpectedly grumbled.

One of the young men, Elian, pointed into the misty eastern darkness. "He is in the tower, preparing for a test. He wanted you to know hes sorry he could not make it tonight."

"If only he had known," remarked the Storyteller.

"Known what, Storyteller?"

"The story of Babak, the lost dervish."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Female, Muslim Author Blends Scholarship and Personal Experience into an Exposé on the Beauties and Trials of Being a Plural Wife

NEW YORK, NY—JANUARY 27, 2007— An alternative to the predominate view of Islaamic polygyny as an oppressive, archaic marital practice, Polygynous Blessings: Musings of a Muslim Wife provides an intimate look into the life of MizAzeez, a Muslim wife who lives in a polygynous marriage. A compilation of 7 months of blog entries exploring MizAzeez’s struggle being a plural wife and her ultimate embracing of an otherwise stigmatized marital practice, Polygynous Blessings: Musings of a Muslim Wife includes personal reflections, excerpts from the Qur’aan and Sunnah (statements and actions of the Prophet of Islaam, Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him), and religious verdicts by renowned Muslim scholars.

MizAzeez openly accepts and advocates for polygyny as a viable and legitimate marital institution, when practiced according to the tenets of Islaam. She published her memoir in order to provide a more balanced view of Islaamic polygyny from the perspective of a Muslim woman for whom polygyny is a reality. From Polygynous Blessings: Musings of a Muslim Wife, women can draw strength and guidance from MizAzeez’s own struggle of maintaining patience through adversity. In addition, MizAzeez clarifies some of the most common misunderstandings regarding polygyny in Islaam, drawing from classical sources of Islaamic scholarship.

“I started writing because I wanted people to see the process of one sister trying to cope AND overcome her struggle with polygyny,” said MizAzeez. “I wanted to make polygyny work in my life. I wanted to get past the supposed cons and see the potential pros, not as just some abstract concepts, but as my lived experience. I wanted to be at peace with my polygynous situation and so that is what I strove for. And that is what I got... and I want other sisters to be able to find the peace that I have found.”

ABOUT AUTHOR
MizAzeez was always a seeker a truth, a challenger of the status quo, a fighter against injustice, and a deconstructor of stereotypical, biased representations and half-truths. While in high school, a class trip to a local masjid peaked her interest in Islaam, an interest that was later increased while on a trip to Spain’s southern coast which was filled with remnants of a Muslim past. After Sept. 11, MizAzeez was compelled to focus her end of the year American Women’s History class project on Muslim women in America, seeking to combat the barrage of media coverage about the so-called “oppressed, burqa-wearing” Muslim women of Afghanistan. It was while doing research for this presentation that MizAzeez began to learn of the honorable position of women in Islaam, finding her heart drawn towards the faith. While a freshman in college, MizAzeez befriended a group of Muslim women who showed her the beauty of sisterhood in Islaam, leading to her embracing of the deen.

A Muslim now for close to four years, MizAzeez has since graduated from Hunter College with a B.A. in Urban Studies and has been married for a little over a year. Her experience as a wife in a polygynous marriage inspired her to write and self-publish the memoir, Polygynous Blessings: Musings of a Muslim Wife. She plans to follow up her memoir with a book compiling the stories of children’s experiences in polygynous families. It is MizAzeez’s wish to make hijrah insha’Allaah to Yemen and live a very humble and simple life.

Zamzam

According to test results, Zamzam water is the only water that does not contain microorganisms and bacterium; this mystery of Zamzam cannot be solved with our modern technology and research according to reports from the World Health Organization (WHO).
I would like to share this subject with our readers while the excitement of Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) is continuing…

Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) said “the difference between the believers and the hypocrites is drinking ones fill of Zamzam water.” (1) Also “The best water on the face of the earth is the water of Zamzam; its taste is well and is a healing from sickness." (2)

There are eighteen kinds of useful mineral mixtures in Zamzam, (3) such as Magnesium sulphate, sodium, sulphate, sodium chlorite, calcium carbonate, potassium nitrate, hydrogen sulphate, and sulphur. (4)

Hafez Suyuti narrates: “…the young companions used to wrestle each others and the Meccans won every time as long as they drank Zamzam…” (5)

“Think that there are modern fountains that flow thousands of years around Kabaa and millions of people drink and millions carry this water with drums to different regions of the world. But it does not still lose its taste, color and excitement. That water, which comes from deep in the Arabian desert, is Zamzam. How can that happen? Only belief can explain it…(6)

When Ibn-i Hagar Askalani was drinking Zamzam he prayed to Allah to be a hadiths hafiz (a person that memorized sayings & teachings of the Prophet (pbuh)) like Zahabi level. (7)

Prof. Dr. Zakai Sen (from Turkey) was invited to “Zamzam Studies and Research Centre” as a manager. Prof. Sen said: “As I continued my research into Zamzam, my faith increased. There are a lot of things that cannot be explained by science. In that point faith helped me.” (8)

If you drink Zamzam with the intention of becoming healed, it can purify the stomach, kidney, and intestines and it is also useful for the liver and can abolish headaches and worry and also strengthen the sight and heart.

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said "Do not drink at one go like the camel, rather drink taking two or three breaths and keeping vessel away from your lips every time” and he forbade blowing into the drinking vessel. Also He (pbuh) advised us “to mention the Name of Allah (i.e., say Bismillah) and use our right hand to say “Al-hamdu lillah-praise Allah” after drinking. (9)

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) used to take Zamzam water to where He (pbuh) went. (10)

“Hazrat Abu Zar had first come to Mecca during the early stages of Islam, and the Messenger (pbuh) saw him and asked “how many days have you been here” Abu Zar replied that he had been here since a month and he had nothing to eat but Zamzam. He had drunk only Zamzam in that time and meanwhile he had put on weight. And Hazrat Abu Bakr took him his home, treated him very hospitably, and the next day Hazrat Ali took him to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and Abu Zar was honored by Islam there. (11)

When we made umrah with the late artist Abdullah Taktak (Marhoom) we were talking about Zamzam and he said to me “My hodja (teacher) this is not water.” We all were surprised…and waiting for his words about what Zamzam was. He continued “this is serum, serum” so we remembered Marhoom with this nice memory and defined Zamzam in brief.

May Allah give us the opportunity to drink Zamzam to our fulfillment in its well.

“Zamzam that was drunk is excreted from the body as sweat not as urine” (12)

Note: “We hope to see bottled Zamzam in buffets, shops, markets around the world so we can easily reach Zamzam to drink it every time”

“ Mother, mother…there’s too many of you crying,
Brother, brother, brother…there’s far too many of you dying”…

Waking up each morning,
Living day by day,
Loving parents pray for my,
Safety as I play,
The world I know is simple,
Complexities quite few,

Our wonderful Globe of humanity
As a human being in heart we must have humanity
But why humanity is missing in action for unity
It is maybe due to our week humanity
OGod/Allah let us help in finding the humanity
Your creation cries in hunger towards humanity
The world of politics is the barrier of humanity
The natural way of living shall lead us to humanity
Nothing to worry tears of humanity sustains in peoples unity!

Wall of Intolerance

Wall of Intolerance

There is a place where hills of thyme grow. A place where olive groves are lined up straight and grapes are twisted on the vine. Streets of stone lead to ancient places that are written about. Here is a place where the history of religion and the intolerance of people live side by side. A woman cries alone her tears are felt in this land where fear is not forgotten. An old man walks along the same dirt road that generations of his family have tread upon. He looks ahead to his home where families have gathered for wedding feasts and children have laughed playing among the olive groves. It is gone. All that remains there amid the destruction of life is a reminder. A wall that blocks the views of the villages and orchards that once where scattered on the hillside. All encompassing sealing the fate of those whom live under its shadow.
