Oh how the sun is so bright,And I look at you with all my might,If I could amount to who you are,People would gaze at me from places near and far,And how you make your children smile,Or how you could cross the River Nile,I look at you in amazement and stare,That's my mother up there!

There is a nagging gnawing on the inside of my self, Its the feeling of my body giving up before its time.
In the quiet twilight hours between one prayer and another
Once I prayed for health Now I pray for peace

by F. Abdul Qadir C.

Old Umm Muslimah lived in a hut
It had a thatched roof and walls made of mud.
She woke up before dawn
And read the Qur'an,
Offered her salah,
The mother of Muslimah

In The Name of Allah begin every action
Obey, serve and worship Allah with devotion
Offer Salaah with humility and attention,
Read the Quran with understanding and comprehension.

Strive in Allahs way with Quranic inspiration
Let Allahs pleasure be our only aspiration
And success in the Hereafter,
Be our sole ambition.

Common Cold

Common cold, (viral) Rhinitis, is one of the most common diseases. It is caused by variety of viruses. It is an infection that starts in the upper respiratory tract, sometimes spreading to the lower structures. It also contributes to infections of the eyes (watery and turning red) or middle ear (such as blockage). Forceful blowing of the nose [remember to close one nostril, while blowing the other gently], causes temporary deafness and mild pain. Nose also tends to lose the sensation to smell and obstructs breathing, which forces us to breathe through mouth. Food doesnt taste as good as it should be.

About 200 different strains of virus are capable of producing cold. Person to person contact, using of handkerchief used by one having cold or prolonged use of same handkerchief, etc. spreads the cold.

It is related by Abu Hurayrah that "When the Apostle of Allah sneezed, he used to cover his face with both hands or a cloth to suppress its report," - Abu Dawud. While sneezing we should cover the mouth and nose with our hands or kerchief or tissue paper so that we can stop the cold virus from spreading and causing infections to others.

A Question

During one of the lovely nights of Ramadan I had a

ring-bell type of dream. I do not recall which day

it was but I think it was on the 26th or

thereabouts. I think I was headed to a hospital or

perhaps a classroom where many people were

sitting awaiting their turns. I dont know what they

were waiting for. I couldnt tell whether the place

was a hospital or a deserted classroom. But all I

knew was that I was going to challenge them. I

walked out of the classroom but I needed a ladder

to go to the place i wanted. So I did use one, which

was never used before. Everyone was agahst,

they thought I had lost my mind. When I got down,

the place seemed like a brown forest with no sign

of life, dead leaves, and an empty ground that was muddy.

I ended up running down a still place with a little

ocean-like waterbody that had aggressive waves

that were also brown, the color of the water was

brown. Wherever I tried to run, the waves wouldnt allow it.

So I ended up going in the other direction.

The Ramadan Ramblings: One drop of blood.

My lips cracked today while I was fasting. It didn’t feel very deep at the time, but when I saw a small red drop suddenly appear on the floor by my feet, I realized they were bleeding. My first thought was, gross.

My second thought was, Oh My God. One drop of blood. This may have been the first time in my life when I have ever shed a drop of blood for something, anything remotely Islamic...

Nisa - Prt 1.

At fifteen years old, Nisa was considered mature for her age. Mature, intelligent, and social. A very good combination if one is so inclined. Mature enough to handle the responsiblites of being an only child in a one parent home, intelligent enough to excel in her freshman year of high school, and friendly enough to not have too many enemies and a wide range of friends.

Never a day goes by when the phone isnt ringing or her inbox is empty. If her mother calls in from work to say shell be home late, dinner is prepared without hassle or complaint. Homework is never left unattended until the morning of its due date, and if it is, the completion will be done early enough so that she isnt too stressed about it during the day. Overall, a well adjusted life for a seemingly well adjusted girl.

There comes a time though, when all well adjusted people stumble. They find an obstacle in their paths that cannot be brushed aside or solved easily. When faith and loyalty are tested to the point where one yearns for the escape of sleep to avoid worry.
